Senior Developer

We're looking for a Senior Developer to take ownership of the development and technical quality of client websites, landing pages, and digital experiences. You'll work closely with designers, strategists, and marketers to turn approved designs into fast, responsive, scalable websites that perform across devices. This role is for someone who can work independently, solve technical problems confidently, maintain a high standard of implementation, and think beyond simply making a design functional.

What You'll Do

• Build and maintain high-quality client websites and landing pages
• Translate Figma designs into accurate, responsive, production-ready websites
• Take ownership of development projects from initial setup through launch
• Develop custom layouts, components, templates, and functionality
• Build primarily within WordPress and related technologies
• Ensure websites perform consistently across desktop, tablet, and mobile
• Optimize websites for speed, Core Web Vitals, usability, and technical performance
• Implement forms, tracking, integrations, animations, and interactive functionality
• Follow SEO best practices for site structure, performance, indexing, and technical implementation
• Work closely with UX/UI designers to ensure the final build accurately reflects approved designs
• Collaborate with SEO, paid media, strategy, and content teams on technical requirements
• Troubleshoot bugs, plugin conflicts, browser issues, and performance problems
• Review and improve existing websites, code, and technical infrastructure
• Manage staging, testing, deployment, backups, and website launches
• Maintain clean, scalable, and reusable development practices
• Perform QA before projects go live and resolve issues efficiently
• Help establish and improve Explore Agency's development standards and processes
• Use AI tools to accelerate development, debugging, documentation, and problem-solving

What We're Looking For

• 4+ years of professional web development experience
• Strong experience developing and maintaining WordPress websites
• Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP
• Experience translating detailed Figma designs into responsive websites
• Strong understanding of responsive development and modern front-end practices
• Experience creating custom WordPress themes, templates, and functionality
• Strong understanding of website performance and Core Web Vitals
• Familiarity with technical SEO and accessibility best practices
• Experience working with APIs, third-party integrations, forms, and tracking implementations
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
• High attention to visual detail and the ability to accurately reproduce approved designs
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and reusable code
• Comfortable working with Git and version control
• Ability to manage multiple client projects and priorities
• Strong communication skills when working with both technical and non-technical team members
• Ability to take ownership of projects with limited supervision
• Strong working knowledge of ChatGPT and Claude and the ability to incorporate AI into everyday development workflows

Nice to Have

• Previous experience working at a digital or marketing agency
• Experience with Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) and custom WordPress development
• Experience with WooCommerce
• Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks
• Experience implementing animations and interactive experiences
• Experience working with Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, and conversion tracking
• Understanding of CRO and how development decisions can influence conversion
• Experience improving Core Web Vitals and website performance
• Familiarity with DNS, hosting environments, CDN configuration, SSL, and website migrations
• Experience with automation, APIs, or AI-powered website functionality
• Experience working with home services, legal, healthcare, or other lead-generation businesses
